You should know me!

October 6th, 2007

This is only the 3rd or 4th blog I’ve started ;-), so here’s another “About” page.  I’m Paige, Mama to four amazing daughters:  Shelby (14), Tori (9), Ashlyn (8), and Loryn (5).   I’m wife/best friend/partner to David, who is 4.5 years my junior.  It works for us.

We live and laugh (and love, can’t forget the LOVE), together in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.  My three oldest daughters are learning at home (relaxed homeschooling), and my youngest daughter (Loryn) attends our city’s Kindergarten program for Autistic children.  Both Ashlyn and Loryn are diagnosed with Autism, and believe it or not, we have no interest in curing our daughters of their “conditions”.  Imagine that! ;-)

I love good music, good books, and good times.  I love to laugh, especially with my husband.  My favorite food is Mexican, and I collect vegetarian cookbooks.  My iPod might be my best friend.  Flight of the Conchords is the funniest TV show I’ve seen in a long time (but I like It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, too.  And Weeds).  I color my hair several times a year, and usually change it completely each time.  Right now, I’m really feeling “blonde”, though I’m currently reddish-brown.  As one of my fave aunts would say, “You know…it’s all about the hair”.

I like pie better than cake.  I like coffee ice cream, but hardly ever drink coffee.  My husband and I don’t wear wedding bands, but sometimes think about getting bands tattooed onto our ring fingers.  Maybe this November…it’ll be our 10th Anniversary!

I can’t go to sleep at night if my dresser mirror is all smudged  (Loryn especially loves putting her hands all over the mirror); however, I could care less about dust bunnies under the bed or a few dishes in the sink.

When I was a little girl, I dreamed of being a rock-star and part-time Avon lady.  Now, I’d just like to travel a bit, and attend cooking school.

My intention is not to use this space to write about current events, as I think there are way too many bloggers doing that already.  However, should I climb up on the soapbox and start espousing my personal thoughts/beliefs regarding Autism, homeschooling, politics, right-wing fundies, unschooling, parenting, etc. then so be it.  You’re more than welcome to stay, grab some munchies and a latte (or a good stiff drink), and laugh (or cry) right along with me.

And feel free to skip over the pictures.  I take lots of pictures.
