What I’m Reading

This is a page I’m setting up, and will hopefully add to frequently.  I am a voracious reader.  I read mostly non-fiction, simply because I find that I have little time to waste on BAD fiction.

Here are just a few things I’m reading now (October, 2007):

With the Light… Vol. 1: Raising an Autistic Child Japanese Manga written from the perspective of a Mother who is raising an Autistic son, named Hikaru (“light” in Japanese).

The Jane Austen Handbook: A Sensible Yet Elegant Guide to Her World  For all those readers who dream about living in Regency England, The Jane Austen Handbook offers step-by-step instructions for proper comportment in the early nineteenth century. You’ll discover:
How to Become an Accomplished Lady
How to Run a Great House
How to Indicate Interest in a Gentleman Without Seeming Forward
How to Throw a Dinner Party
How to Choose and Buy Clothing

Louder Than Words: A Mother’s Journey in Healing Autism, by Jenny McCarthy  I may have to post a review of this later on, but I’m just now starting it.  I don’t think my kids need to be “healed” from Autism, and I don’t believe that immunizations harmed my girls.  They are exactly who they are, and I love them just the way they are…Autistic or not.  The thing is, though…when you’re a Mom of an Autistic child, you feel the need to read any and everything that is written on the subject.  Sometimes, not such a good idea.  :-(   Also, who can forget how annoying Jenny McCarthy was on Singled Out
